Fitness icon Milind Soman has embarked on a special journey from Sinhagad Fort to Panhala Fort as part of the Unity Run, in partnership with Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM). This year’s run takes on a new dimension as Milind Soman will combine running with riding GEM’s recently launched high-performance family electric scooter, the Ampere Nexus.
The Unity Run was flagged off on 10 August at Ace AV Ampere, Shivajinagar, Pune, where Soman began his expedition on the Ampere Nexus electric scooter after a meet and greet with dealers and customers. Over the next four days, the Nexus will be a companion to Milind Soman as he runs covering inter-city long distances. The run concludes at Vasai-Virar Fort on August 13th. During the run, he also interacted with Greaves community while passing Mumbai.
The Training and Placement Cell at Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA) along with Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WICCI) recently organised an interactive session “FINDING THE PATH – Addressing challenges towards becoming a professional”. About 250 students participated in this session focussed on dealing with life, career, family, aspirations, planning, knowing your mind, and being happy at work. Dr. Anurag Kashyap, Principal BNCA, Ar. Sonali Thosar, President, Maharashtra Council, WICCI along with women architects and counsellors Ar. Priya Gokhale , Ar. Yamini Deshmukh, Ar. Vaishali Chaudhari , Ar. Anjali Lovekar and Ar. Prajakta Introutwar interacted with the students . The program was organised was by Prof. Madhuri Zite and Prof. Yash Joshi . Dr. Kashyap said that while empowering women, our institution doesn’t just create job seekers but encourages youngsters to become entrepreneurs and create jobs. Talking about creating a strong footing in the field of architecture currently dominated by men, Ar. Sonali Thosar, President, Maharashtra Council, WICCI Architecture said that new graduates and women professionals should be able to achieve a balanced work-life dynamic. At a time when the number of women professionals is increasing in this sector, it is important to be creative and develop capacities to increase confidence and set a strong footing in this field.
Pune’s own Apsara Ice Creams will launch its Muskaan initiative on its 53rd anniversary on the occasion of 78th Independence Day. Under the initiative of Muskaan, the company intends to distribute 53,000 (ice cream), which is close to four tonnes of ice cream. This initiative will cover 9 states and 25 cities in India. The ice creams would be distributed amongst various NGOs’, orphanages, old age homes, and various foundations in government and non-government sectors.
KEM Hospital celebrated the World Breastfeeding Week with various activities for new mothers, doctors and staff members. World Breastfeeding Week is held in the first week of August every year. The theme for 2024 is Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all.
The week-long activities included Quiz for paediatric, gynaecologist and neonatologists and department members, awareness program and fun activities for new mothers, felicitation of milk donors. The activities also included card making competition for employees, the cards were prepared on the theme of joy and beauty of breast feeding and will be given to mothers. The activities culminated with nursing training program who are the first point of contact with new mothers and are closely associated with the diet of mother and baby. All the activities helped enhance awareness amongst the staff members as well as new mothers.
