Recognising India’s need for a future ready workforce, Honeywell Centre of Excellence for Women Empowerment Inaugurated in Ajeenkya D. Y. Patil University- School Of Engineering by ICT Academy. The centre aims to empower the students of the institution with digital skills such as Big Data Analytics, AI, ML, RPA etc. The Centre of Excellence will train 100 girls’ students on advanced technologies, provide global certification from tech giants, facilitating placements for certified students.
As Industry 4.0 transforms the world of work, new tech-tools are increasingly being adopted. This globally recognized certification program will benefit engineering, arts and science colleges in tier 1 & 2 cities of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, and budding bright students from rural and marginalized sections of the society. Dedicated centres for students demonstratesICT Academy’s commitment towards women& youth empowerment, with the objective of realizing a diverse and inclusive workforce in the country.
The training program comprises of 100 hours of learning and opportunities for the students to participate in the hackathons, and youth empowerment summit. Along with students, four faculties of School of Engineering, namely, Prof. GargiDeshpande, Dr Debirupa Hore, Prof. Neha Vekhande and Prof. Apurva Kandelkar will also be trained on the advanced technologies to mentor the students.
At the event, Ashish Gaikwad, managing Director, Honeywell India, said, “Honeywell being a technology leader, is deeply committed to educating the younger generation with the right knowledge specially in STEM Programs. It is our desire that these technology programs must be affordable and accessible to all sections of the society, all get access to high quality education to pursue better career and build a better life. From this point of view this engagement with ICT Academy in upskilling 5000 young lives is a significant step for us.”
Speaking about this initiative, Dr.Anbuthambi Bhojarajan, President, ICT Academy, said, “Technology has become part of every business. Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, Vice-chancellor, Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil University, Pune inaugurated the event and said “CSR activities have developed a global outlook among the students. When a student is well aware that corporate social responsibility will always be a part of his/her life, he/she becomes more passionate about it. Moreover, by being a part of social activities, the students are also opening doors for more and more global opportunities and benefits.”
Dr.Biswajeet Champaty, Head of School Of Engineering, Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil University, Pune, speaking about this initiative, mentioned “Due this CSR activity students will now move towards being better human beings by taking a step forward towards globalization. Students are now becoming aware of the fact that if they want to grow in life, being a responsible citizen is a must. By being a part of corporate social activities, the chances of economic development increase as well. This helps the student as well as the place they belong to a great extent.”
