Raikars enthrall audience with their ‘singing violin’ on Day 3 of Sawai Gandharva Fest

On the 3rd day of 66th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, music lovers got a chance to listen to some amazing compositions from the tradition of classical music from Punjab which were presented by Ragi Balwant Singh Namdhari.

Aparna Panshikar

The first session on this day opened with the performance by Vocalist Aparna Panashikar. She presented Raag Lajwanti. She also performed a Meera Bhajan ‘Chod Mat Jaiyo Re’ which is sung by her mother and Guru Meera Panashikar.

Balwant Singh Namdhari

She was followed by Ragi Balwant Singh Namdhari who performed some Bandish compositions of Jaipur and Talwandi Gharana. He presented the compositions ‘Chiranjivi Raho Dono’, ‘Jagat Janani Jagadambe Bhawani’, ‘Baras Rahi Kari Kari Badariya’ and also some Punjabi Shabad Kirtan compositions which got a huge response from the audience.

Milind and Yadnyesh Raikar

Father-Son duo Milind Raikar and Yadnyesh Raikar mesmerized the audience with their outstanding Violin performance on the 3rd day of 66th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav.

 

Pt Ulhas Kashalkar

Veteran vocalist Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar was felicitated with Vatsalatai Bhimsen Joshi Puraskar. The award consisting of Rs. 51 thousand and citation was given to Pt. Kashalkar at the hands of Shrinivas Joshi, executive president, Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal along with the other trustees of the organization.

Milind and Yadnyesh Raikar performed Raag Bhoop and also a composition in Raag Hamir. They also performed a popular bhajan ‘Baje re muraliya baje’ on Violin.

Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar performed Raag Basant-Bahar.
