Pandit Arvind Kumar Azad has been organizing the yearly concert for last 28 years to pay tribute to his Guru Padma Vibhushan Pandit Kishen Maharaj
Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra and Pandit Arvind Kumar Azad’s ‘Taalayan Music Circle’ have organized a special musical concert ‘ Shradha Suman’ from January 28th to January 30th at the Abasaheb Garware College auditorium on Karve Road. It will have musical and dance performances. The concert will start at 5 PM on all the three days. Entry to the program is free on a first come first serve basis.To pay tribute to his Guru Padma Vibhushan Pandit Kishen Maharaj, Pandit Arvind Kumar Azad has been organizing a yearly concert for the last 28 years. This year is the birth centenary of Tabla Maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Kishen Maharaj, concerts are being organized for a year. This is the fifth concert in the series, which started from September 2022.The Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra under the guidance of Maharashtra Cultural Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge and Director Vibhishan Choure, is supporting the concert, which will be held in January.On January 28th, there will be a performance by vocalist Manjusha Patil, a disciple of Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar and who belongs to the Gwalior Gharana. It will be followed by performance of Sitar player Pandit Narendra Mishra of Banaras Gharana. Pandit Mishra is the disciple of Ustad Vilyat Khan. The day will conclude with the performance of senior vocalist Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar, of Jaipur-Agra Gharana.The second day (January 29th) will start with the performance of vocalist Arati Thakur-Kundalkar, a disciple of Swarayogini Dr Prabha Atre. It will be followed by the performance of tabla player Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari, a disciple of Pandit Kishen Maharaj, who belongs to Banaras Gharana. The day will conclude with the performance of Vidushi Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande.The third day (January 30th) will start with a Kathak presentation by Vishal Krishna, a disciple of acclaimed Kathak dancer Sitara Devi. Krishna is the 11th generation artist from his family. It will be followed with performance of Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar, a disciple of Padma Vibushan Kishori Amonkar, who belongs to Jaipur-Atroli Gharana. The three-day musical festival will conclude by the performance of internationally-acclaimed flautist Pandit Ronu Majumdar, a disciple of Pandit Vijay Raghav Rao.
