This workshop seeks to sensitize and equip School Teachers, Parents, Practitioners & Caregivers with tools that enable improved & effective care of children with Special Needs.
Dr Neena Rao, Founder and CEO of Margika said that Children with Mental, Intellectual and Developmental Challenges should get fruitfully involved in the learning process rather than merely be placed in schools and society at large. This workshop is an effort in that direction.
Dr Neena Rao, has been working towards this cause since 2015 and has been training Special Educators, Mainstream School Teachers, Parents and Practitioners across three states; Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Margika was conceived to address the need of creating awareness, fight the stigma and provide advance knowledge and best practices from the world over, in the field of education and treatment for children who are differently abled.
Dr Neena Rao, added that Margika strives for meaningful assimilation of those afflicted with developmental and mental health challenges into mainstream society and raise the bar from ‘simply surviving to a truly thriving state!’ For this purpose, we collaborate with and draw upon subject expertise and cutting-edge knowledge from the best of
the Universities and Institutions world over for the preparation of the “Training Material & Service Delivery”.
She made special mention of support from University of Florida’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, (CARD) Gainesville, Florida, USA and British Indian Psychiatric Association, BIPA, UK in this regard.
The objectives behind this workshop include Capacity Building and equipping of all stakeholders for better care, Awareness creation among stakeholders, Resources (internal – providing competencies, External – networking with professionals) and Address & Minimize Stigmatisation.
