The 4th day of 66th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav was opened with an engaging performance by Vocalist Dattatray Velankar. He started the performance with Raag ‘Multani’ and also presented a composition ‘Naiya Paar Karo’ in Raag ‘Patdeep’. He concluded with an Abhang ‘Sant Bhaar Pandharit’.
He was followed by Sawani Shende-Sathye who performed some amazing compositions in Raag ‘Madhuvanti’ like ‘Jage More Bhag’, ‘Re Nandlaal Ghar More Aaye’, ‘Shree Ambika Jagadamb Bhavani’. She also presented ‘Raagmala’ composition by Pt.Bholanath Bhatt and concluded with a Dadra by Shobha Gurtu- ‘Saiyan Rooth Gaye’.
She was followed by Flutist Vivek Sonar who presented Raag ‘Vachaspati’ on flute. He performed Alap Jod and some compositions in Matta Taal and Teen Taal.
In the second session on the 4th day of Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, 3 well known Vocalists Shrinivas Joshi (son of Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Gokulotsav Maharaj and Devaki Pandit presented amazing classical performances. Shrinivas Joshi performed Raag ‘Bihag’ and also presented a popular Abhang composition ‘Kanhoba Tuzi Ghongadi Changli’.
Pt. Gokulotsav Maharaj presented Raag ‘Hansadhwani’ and also performed a self written composition in Raag ‘Janasammohini’. He then performed a self written Raagmala composition which was very well appreciated by the audience.
He was followed by Devaki Pandit who performed Raag ‘Zinjoti’.
The fourth day of Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Joshi Mahotsav closed with a sitar recital by renowned sitarist and Pune’s own Ustad Shahid Parvez. He offered raag Malkauns in the company of Mukesh Jadhav on Tabla and Umang Tadphale on Tanpura.
