Pune to host National Conf on ​ Defect Free Construction

Indian Concrete Institute Pune Centre (ICI-PC) will hold a national level conference, CEMCON on ‘Defect Free Construction : Emerging Technologies and Materials at C.V. Raman Auditorium, IISER Campus, Baner, Pune on 7 and  8 December 2018.

Gautam Chatterjee (IAS) Chairperson, MahaRERA will be the Chief Guest for the event and deliver the key note speech at the inaugural session.

Ujwal Kunte,  Chairperson Indian Concrete Institute Pune,  said construction with minimum defects is the need of this hour of rapid developments in housing, infrastructure and smart cities with the challenge of speed, minimum carbon foot prints, maximum safety and quality. The conference will be a golden opportunity for all to meet on a national platform to the see the integration of the research, theory and practice. CEMCON 2018 also includes exhibition and demonstration of live products.

Defect free construction has been a challenge to the industry due to lack of skills, technology and knowledge. Industry not only spends enormous amount of money and man-hours on rectification and rework, but it also impacts the credibility of the civil engineering fraternity. The new regulations like RERA are adding further to the responsibility of civil professionals towards defect free construction. This makes the topic very relevant for the Civil Engineering Community.

Students from any college/institute can submit papers on any topic relevant to the theme of the conference or any other topic related to cement, concrete, construction materials and techniques. Papers would be shortlisted from the submitted entries by the ICI-PC Technical Committee and top three contestants would get an opportunity to present their papers at the conference on 8th December 2018.
