A scientist and a economist present a new dimension for nation building in their book

Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, renowned Scientist and Ravi Pandit, Entrepreneur and Economist have presented a new dimension for development of the country and world in their book ‘Leapfrogging to Pole-vaulting’. The book is released today in an event organized by Pune International Centre (PIC), at the hands of Dr. Ron Malka, Israeli Ambassador and Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Founder, ‘Symbiosis’.

The event took place at Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA). Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, President, PIC, Ravi Pandit, Trustee, PIC, Arun Firodia, Entrepreneur and Trustee, PIC and Prof. Amitav Mallik, Chairperson, Programmes Committee, PIC, Prashant Girbane, honorary Director, PIC, were present along with chief guests.

Speaking about the book, Dr. Mashelkar said, ‘‘This book is about moving from ‘Incremental’ to the ‘Gamechanging’. Aspirations are the possibilities and it has to be kept high. In ‘Pole-vaulting’ we have to start at zero and have to accelerate. There can be many speed-breakers  in this path such as unpredictable policies, political leadership, mindset of the society in general etc. If we prepare well, we can surely pole-vault. ’’

Dr. Ron Malka said that Israel  is called as a startup nation and probably has the most number of startups one can see in any country per capita. ‘‘India is also a startup nation. We can see lot creativity especially in youngsters. We want to share this innovative spirit. I’m here to figure out new formulas to enable more and more partnerships and joint ventures between the two nations, because it works so well for the benefit of both sides.’’ He said.

Ravi Pandit said , ‘‘There is a lot of there is to be done in terms of educating people as to how a good policy is laid down. If we can create an environment where responsible policy making is respected, then we can make things happen. In this book, there is a chapter where we have talked about the Do’s and Don’ts of public policy.’’
