Placements body focusses on increased training for students

At a time when the entire country is in a lockdown, companies facing rough, anxiety about placements, internships are also increasing. To address this issue Federation of Training Placement Officers (FTPO) is focusing on increased training and skill acquisitions to navigate through these tough times. The federation has organised a slew of activities including free placement preparatory C & Java programming video courses in association Talentbattle, free live sessions on how to kickstart a career in data science in collaboration with Tech Smart Systems, Webinars on jobs and associated skills in association with Skill Edge, the importance of foreign language in association with Evolving X  and many more. More than forty thousand students from all across India have already registered for various webinars and courses till now.

Santosh Borde, Chairman Federation of Training Placement Officers ( FTPO) Maharashtra said that ,  there is no denying the fact that academic institutions, teachers , students are concerned about the placements. What could have a great academic year been all over has been disrupted by the human and economic losses caused by the pandemic. But every crisis throws certain challenges and opportunities. While we are constantly talking to hiring professionals from many companies, some say hiring may be deferred by 3-6 months while some say there could be a reduction in hiring but hiring will happen. This means there are opportunities for students.  So FTPO is focusing more on increased training of students, what will differentiate them from others is the kind of skill acquisition that they have done and will give them a better chance of getting hired. For this, we have collaborated with various startups for courses and webinars to impart new skills.

Jasmita Kaur, Vice Chairman FTPO said, “We are closely working with Startups and NGOs for paid internships especially for students from the lower-income background. The collaboration with startups will continue”
