The second day of 66th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav was opened with an engaging performance by Dr. Rita Dev.
Dr. Dev started her performance with Raag Madhuvanti. She also performed a Thumri ‘Saajan Tum Kahe Ko Neha Lagaye’ which beautifully unfolded characteristics of Banaras Gayki. She was accompanied by Milind Kulkarni (Harmonium), Bharat Kamat (Tabla) and Anuja Bhave and Vaishali Kuber (Tanpura).
She was followed by a young vocalist of Patiyala Gharana Saurabh Salunkhe. He started his performance with Raag Puriya Kalyan. He also performed a dadra ‘Barsan Lage Sawan Bundiya Raja’ and an Abhang ‘Teerth Vitthal Kshetra Vitthal’.
He was accompanied by Avinash Dighe (Harmonium), Prashant Pandav (Tabla), Gambhir Maharaj Avchar (Pakhawaj), Mukund Badrayani and Gaurav Salunkhe (Tanpura).
On the second day of the 66th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, Rahul Sharma, renowned Santoor player mesmerized the audience with his Santoor performance.
Rahul Sharma started his performance with Raag Gorakh Kalyan. He presented Aalap and also some compositions in Matta Taal and Drut Teen Taal. He concluded the performance with a composition in Raag Pahadi. He was accompanied by Pt. Mukundraj Dev on Tabla.
After that, veteran Vocalist Pt. Ajay Pohankar delivered an amazing performance. He started with Raag Kaunsi Kanada. He also performed a Thumri compositions ‘ Sajanwa Tum Kya Jano Preet’ and ‘Yaad Piya ki’. He was accompanied by Pt. Mukundraj Dev (Tabla), Sudhir Nayak (Harmonium), Dhananjay Joshi & Sanjay Sonar (Vocal), Suranjan Khandalkar and Atharva Kulkarni (Tanpura).
