EPD-Norway’s Hakon Hauan & Greenex Environmental MDs Arati Bhosale-Ahiwale and Sagar Ahiwale signed Memorandum of Understanding

Pune based Greenex Environmental Pvt. Ltd. has signed a strategic international collaboration agreement with Norway based EPD Global to offer services in the area of publishing Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). The announcement was made by Sagar Ahiwale and Arati Bhosale-Ahiwale, joint Managing Directors of the company, at a media conference today after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Mr. Håkon Hauan, CEO of The Norwegian EPD Foundation (EPD-Norway).The MoU provides for assessment by Greenex Environmental of environmental impact on the products manufactured by Indian businesses and issue of Environmental Product Declaration for every product by the Norwegian collaborator. EPD certification is required for the all the manufacturers Through this exclusive partnership, the two organizations will work together to bring global-quality EPD services to Indian and regional manufacturers. The collaboration aims to enable industries especially MSMEs and large manufacturing sectors to enhance their sustainability performance, improve transparency, and meet international market requirements. With the combined strengths of EPD Global’s publication authority and Greenex’s deep technical capabilities, manufacturers will now have easier access to world-class support for developing and publishing EPDs.“India has been performing strongly in the world market with SMEs being the backbone of the country’s exports. There is a rising trend in the world market to give preference to the products which hold EPDs. Indian SMEs will benefit greatly from EPDs for their products as the buyer will prefer to import such products and may offer a higher price, Ms Aarati Bhosale-Ahiwale said. “Governments all over the world are insisting on reduction in the environmental impact of products and services. Though not mandatory at the moment, EPDs will become a norm in the days to come,” she said.Greenex has been in the EPD business for the last few years and has so far worked with more than 50 businesses across industries such as chemicals, engineering, metals and food, Ms Bhosale – Ahiwale said. “The collaboration with EPD Global, Norway, will help raise the quality of EPDs to international standards and reduce the cost of obtaining the certification by about 70 per cent,” she added. Mr Sagar Ahiwale said the initiative marks a significant milestone for the sustainability domain in India and beyond. It is expected to create new employment opportunities, strengthen industry competitiveness, and accelerate the adoption of environmentally responsible practices. “The collaboration is a major step forward in helping organisations transition towards low-carbon, globally compliant operations,” he added.“The partnership will play a significant role in sustainability and also contribute to India’s efforts to achieve Net-Zero environment impact by 2070,” Mr Ahiwale said. The company currently has offices in Pune, Mumbai, Gujarat as well as Dubai and intends to open new offices in India in major industry centres in India,” he said
