Sudarshan Chem’s Integrated Environmental Conservation Projects yield laudable results

On World Nature Conservation Day, Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited has successfully implemented integrated projects covering 1,847.25 hectares across multiple locations, demonstrating its dedication to creating lasting environmental and social impact through water resource development, sustainable agriculture and waste management.Sudarshan’s water conservation initiatives have created significant impact through systematic intervention across vast areas.

The company completed nala deepening covering 2,915 cubic meters, constructed 8 gabion structures and 4 check dams that have positively impacted over 100 hectares of agricultural land. The spring revival project in Sukhadare Kond and Boudh Wadi provides 250 beneficiaries with 24×7 access to clean, safe drinking water, eliminating the need for water tankers and saving community costs while reducing dependency on external water sources.

Additionally, the installation of 800 meters of drinking water pipeline and water filters serves more than 100 households during periods of scarcity and seasonal variations. Additionally, 1,400 cubic meters of Continuous Contour Trenches have been implemented for soil and water conservation, while over 100 acres of land have been treated for agricultural improvement.

Sudarshan has planted over 5,000 trees across Roha, Mahad, and Sutarwadi, including 1,200 saplings of carefully selected fruit-bearing varieties such as Mango, Chikku and Jackfruit. These species were chosen for their ability to thrive in local agro-climatic conditions while offering high market value for fruit production and contributing to soil stabilization.Furthermore, the company has established 120+ kitchen gardens and converted 150 acres of land to organic farming, providing farmers with sustainable economic opportunities while addressing challenges such as fluctuating incomes and soil degradation.

A total of 75 employees volunteered for the plantation drive, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship within the organization.Sudarshan has implemented centralized waste management projects in Roha and Mahad, complemented by the distribution of more than 2,500 home compost planters for household waste processing. Each planter processes 1 kilogram of kitchen waste daily, converting waste into valuable compost and promoting circular economy principles at the household level.

The company has established nature clubs in schools and colleges while conducting environmental education workshops for students. Regular eco-challenges including Nirmalya collection drives and awareness campaigns on biodiversity, waste, and water conservation have created lasting behavioral change in local communities.

Shivalika Raje, Head of People Practices and Chief Sustainability Officer, Sudarshan Chemicals said, “True environmental conservation happens when we integrate nature preservation with community empowerment. At Sudarshan, we believe that when businesses align profit with purpose, we create sustainable solutions that benefit both the planet and people. We actively work to minimize its environmental footprint, conserve resources, and promote sustainable development.”
